RMB WineX 2013 Wrap up
For 14 consecutive years, the annual RMB WineX whirlwind has swept Jozi winelovers off their feet with an unbeatable range of wines – many of which are medal winners of the year – wine accessories, glassware, cellar solutions and a delectable selection of olives. The 2013 show was no exception with just under 12 000 visitors to the show held at the Sandton Convention Centre over the three nights of 23rd to 25th October. To add to the excitement of sipping and swirling the delicious handiwork of the winemakers present, wine enthusiasts, socialites and collectors could vote for their favourite wines at the show by casting their ballots at one of the iStore stations located in the vast WineX hall.
The results of the RMB WineX Best Wines on Show ballot, with prizes from iStore, Riedel Glassware and winewizard.co.za are as follows:

Commenting on this year’s poll, RMB WineX director Michael Fridjhon said: "The poll reflects the views of Gauteng's fine wine drinkers as well as the marketing strength of several of the more promotion savvy producers."
Shop@Show, managed by leading retailer Norman Goodfellows, contributed towards the near R3.5 million sale of 30 000 bottles of wine over the three days of the show.
The top Shop@Show sellers were the Raka Quinary 2009 by volume and the Meerlust Rubicon 2008 by value.
Raka was the overall best selling exhibitor.
The introduction of the Table Talk with… Pop Up Tasting where winemakers could share their passion with a small group of WineX visitors in an intimate round-table setting proved an enormously popular innovation at this year's show. Designed to enhance the wine consumer’s knowledge and appreciation of South African wines, the tasting themes covered discussions on different wine varieties, regions and international wines.
KayaFM added a contemporary Jozi vibe to the festive ambience and the Mastrantonio deli ensured that wine lovers were able to buy freshly produced crunchy Panini and Pasta to complement their tastings.
RMB WineX is a supporter of several charities and conservation projects: Rotary Club of Benoni Aurora raises substantial funds through the management of the show's stock distribution logistic as well as from proceeds raised from exhibitor wine donations. All moneys raised through the coin-operated breathalysers at the show are donated to the Pebbles Project. In addition, WineX supports the WWF Biodiversity and Wine Initiative.
